Bearfoot + Ren Stone at The Rhythm Hut

Date25/08/2017

Starts7:00 pm

Ends11:00 pm

VenueThe Rhythm Hut

Location135 Faunce St, Gosford, NSW 2250 Australia

Roots/reggae-fuelled sextet, Sunshine Coast’s Bearfoot have risen quickly in Queensland’s roots scene – so quickly that their sun-soaked-yet-dark take on roots, reggae and dub has sent ripples through the country, and even over the ditch in the land of the long white cloud.

You could blame their highly energetic, sweat-drenched live performances, or their ability to create catchy melodies, but whatever the case, Bearfoot have been turning heads wherever they (and/or their music) go.

Mixing a solid rhythm section made up of fat bass and steadfast drums with percussive flare, bubbling keys, dubby guitars, horn lines that won’t quit, and vocal harmonies to support vocalist Asher Chapman’s passionate rapid-fire vocals, Bearfoot unashamedly bring their own take on Australian Roots/Reggae music.

“…this is a band who knows their strengths musically and the direction they’re heading in.”
The AU Review

In early 2015, Bearfoot broke through with their locally-produced debut single, ‘Babylon’. It got a little bit of JJJ attention, and community radio pricked up its collective ears. Towards the end of that year, Bearfoot headed to Tanuki Lounge (West End, Brisbane), to work with the award-winning Paulie B – and ‘Impolite’ came out to the world. Roots’N’All on Triple J dug it (it was used throughout 2016 as part of the program’s intro), Community radio was all over it, and it won Bearfoot ‘Best Blues/Roots Release’ at the 2016 Queensland Music Awards.

And now Bearfoot have a brand new single out in ‘Crazy For You’ – a knees-up ska-driven track with twists and turns, celebrating our rollercoaster love lives – and to celebrate, they are heading on a huge East Coast tour.
