Workshop 25th Jan – SOCA

Soca dance is a high energy, rhythmic Caribbean style, named after the music, which originated from Trinidad and Tobago. The class will start with a short warm up, basic moves traditionally done to Soca music (wining and other body isolations), and will include floor work for core strengthening. Movements will be done across the floor simulating the experience of a reveler on the road for Carnival Tuesday. The class ends with a sequence of choreography.
Previous dance experience is not required. Sneakers and rags or bandanas are recommended.

Workshop 24th Jan – CARIBBEAN CONTEMPORARY
[Please see our other FB event for tickets to Caribbean contemporary- https://www.facebook.com/events/165594907251310/]

The Caribbean Contemporary Dance workshop will start with a warm up in the center, focusing on core, balance and strength. It progresses to travelling exercises across the floor including various body isolations, turns and jumps combining modern technique with Caribbean movement. Emphasis will be placed on coordination, musicality and rhythm. A short sequence of choreography will be taught, and the class culminates with stretching.
Previous experience in modern and/ or contemporary dance is required.
