DJ OutKast ;
An official member of Eminem’s Shadyville Crew and 50 Cent’s G‐Unit, DJ Outkast possesses one of the most potent combinations of talent, experience, performance and swag. A versatile mixed‐format turntablist who blurs the line between entertainer and DJ, Outkast is equally as skillful at mixing urban, Caribbean or EDM music.
Born as Chantry Hodge on the island of St Maarten, DJ Outkast was first exposed to music by his father, who owned a record store and DJ’d as hobby. The closure of the record store after many decades left a large selection of records at Outkast’s disposal. He began playing for birthday parties and other small events at the age of 15 developing his crowd‐reading and pleasing instincts early.
In 2004, DJ Outkast entered the first Heineken Green Synergy DJ Competition, a contest of the best DJs in the Caribbean. At 20, he was the youngest DJ in the entire competition but this did not stop him from a 2nd place finish in the finals in Antigua after winning the St Maarten championship. DJ Outkast’s regional popularity soared after his 2006 Green Synergy performance in which he also placed 2nd at the finals in the Bahamas aired on the popular Caribbean TV Network, MTV’s Tempo. He would later debut on U.S. national TV with his 2011 appearance on BET’s 106 & Park.
