COOLY ROOTS is the Gold Coast's premiere monthly showcase of the best local and international acts in the roots, rock, ska, reggae, dub, drum N bass, dancehall, and funky feel-good genres.

After a successful packed-out Vol.1 in September, Vol.2 on Sat October 22nd promises to raise the bar and energy and is being offered as the last FREE ENTRY Cooly Roots before we kick into Summer with a small door charge.

So come check out the movement, energy and music bringing us together to be 'Irie' on the Gold Coast / Northern Rivers areas…

There will be both original music and classic covers early in the evening that everyone can sing, dance, and enjoy from dinner until 9pm.

The Main acts for Cooly Roots kick off at 9pm with Authentic reggae roots genres for you to dance the night away to in what is expected to become the number 1 reggae, roots event on the Gold Coast!

Live performances will be showcased on the main stage downstairs at The Coolangatta Hotel and bring the freshest set to the Icon BAR!

SK Simeon BIO
Ugandan born, Australian based Dancehall artist. SK Simeon takes on singjay style, which involves singing and toasting in Luganda and English, the former being his native language from hometown of Kampala, Uganda. With his singjay vocal delivery, and mixture of comedic tone with conscious lyrics, SK Simeon summons a wholesome and energetic atmosphere wherever he performs. He’s played at numerous Reggae, Dancehall and Dub showcases including I love Dancehall, More Fire, and the Afrobeat edition of the Foreign Brother’s The Showcase just to name a few. SK Simeon has graced stages at Islands Vibes Festival in 2011 – the first ever African Festival held in Melbourne, Africultures Festival in Sydney in 2014, 2015, and 2016, the annual St Kilda Festival with duo SKAAKI and Yaw Faso, as well as the colossal White Night Melbourne festival 2016.

From upbeat chart-topping Bangerz, smooth soul, hip hop, RnB, Rock, reggae, Dnb, Dance and a couple of classic pub rock to Triple J Hottest 100 hits from the last 40 years The BREDDA Brothers have you covered to get the night fired up!

Although they play a range of genres they will be transitioning to the Roots music around 8pm for their last set before COOLY ROOTS officialy starts at 9pm
