NSW Dancehall Queen / King Competition

This is the official state qualifier for the 2017 Australian Dancehall King & Queen competition.

Who will reign in 2017? Who has what it takes?

The time has come for the best dancehall dancers from across NSW to showcase their skills and compete for the title of “NSW Dancehall Queen or King”.

Next February the winner will be competing in the National finals in Melbourne, where they can reign supreme and win $1000.00 towards flights to Jamaica to represent Australia.

Hosted by Dj K-Note (The Edge 96.1)

Supported by the best dancehall DJs and selectas across the state, this night will be packed with pure dancehall vibez.

Kings / Queens

The competition is open to both male and female competitors over the age of 18. There is only one overall state crown! Prizes will be provided to the top 3 dancehall dancers – will they be Kings? Will they be Queens?

Prizes

• Title of NSW Dancehall Queen/King
• NSW competition winner will receive a return flight to Melbourne to battle it out against Australia’s best in the 2017 Australian Dancehall Queen / King competition finals.
*Cooyah clothing vouchers
*Passes to the True Jamaican Dancehall tour dance camp.
• The overall Australian King/Queen will receive cash prizes towards their flights to Jamaica to compete.
• Hundreds in cash and vouchers..

Styles

All styles of Jamaican dancehall are permitted; old school, middle school, new school, sexy tricks or badman style; whatever your flavour.

This competition gives you a chance showcase all your dancehall skills, creativity, personality, stage presence and more. With 3 short rounds, you can choose to showcase all!

All enquirers and competitors are asked to email info@caribbeansydney.com.au for information and registration. Note: All judging criteria are set by the International Dancehall Queen competition.

The newly established Caribbean Sydney, is an organisation that seeks to actively promote, unite and enhance all forms of Caribbean culture throughout Australia.
