The STRANGEWAYS DJS are back with FUTURE FOREST. Delve into the sonic crystalline jungle with percussive global bass from Ribongia (SYD), exotic club and hip hop from Triple J’s late-night selecta Shantan Wantan Ichiban (SYD) and the ‘future-pop-with-the-808-drop’ of Canberra’s own recently unearthed feature artist, HI LIFE (CAN/SYD).

Accompanied by live reactive visuals from John Carolan Art and with the support of some amazing local talent (TBA soon), prepare to descend into the future forest paradise that will be the Transit Bar on Friday, December 2nd for a truly life-changing, hip-shaking experience. Or at least, a damn good party 😉

Ribongia (Syd, October Records)

Italian born, Sydney based afro-juke/footwork producer Ribongia makes music to make you move. He’s gained support from tastemakers (Skrillex’s NestHQ, Nina Las Vegas, Indian Summer, Sinden, KLP and Do Androids Dance) and recieved airplay across the country on every radio station worth its salt. Ribongia has collaborated with hyped producers Clap! Clap! and Populous and has done official remixes for Stanton Warriors, Andy Bull, Sampology, Thundamentals, Ngaiire and Lanie Lane. He’s shared stages with Flying Lotus, Africa Hi-Tech, Gaslamp Killer, Opiuo and Shigheto as well as become a regular fixture of Australian music festivals. Whether performing with just his laptop, or pulling out his full audio-visual set-up of synths, samplers, marimba (!) and visuals, Ribongia’s live shows are compulsively addictive.

Shantan Wantan Ichiban (Syd, triple j)

In his own words: “I do a spot of radio on triple j. A show called The Kick On. And put on a couple of parties, DJ and in my spare time enjoy making and eating chimichangas.”

HI LIFE (Syd/Canberra, Sidechains)

“Euphoric hyper pop” that is “equal parts nostalgia and pure giddy joy” (Matthew Moen, NEST HQ), Hi Life is a production duo split between Sydney and Canberra who are already glowing with fun, glittery releases. Their track ‘So Good’, released on Sydney collective Sidechains’ second compilation, caught Triple J’s attention resulting in an hour long mix on Lewis McKirdy’s Mix Up Exclusives show. Second single ‘When I Get To The Club’ was premiered exclusively on the NEST HQ Blog, got them a Triple J Uneathed feature artist slot and featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist, racking up over a hundred thousand plays. With new singles, remixes and tours in the works, Hi Life are set for a massive 2016.
