What is happening world! Next month (March) Kooyeh will be doing a residency at the Evelyn every Tuesday in anticipation of our Album laucnh! We have booked some killer acts to join us on these groovy dubtastic soul filled nights! $2 on the door and cheap drinks will keep you on your feet grooving!

We will announce our CD launch date closer to the dates but for now we will get it circulating in hope to see as many of you beautiful people there every night!

What is a Kooyeh?

Kooyeh [koo-yeh] noun

A Kooyeh is an nine piece Reggae/Soul/Dub band based in Melbourne.
Originally from the Blue Mountains in NSW, Kooyeh have spent the past two years refining and honing their sound, to come up with a style that is forever moving forward, yet looks over its shoulder to respectfully wink at the past.

Featuring four vocalists, a horn section and a skankalicious riddim section, the Kooyeh massive deliver a high energy show steeped in heavyweight reggae riddims and funky soul that keeps the dancefloor buzzing as the spotlight sweeps between each of the singers, the riffing horn players, funky organ, bluesy guitar and of course, bass heavy one drop.

Our supports for these evening are as followed.

WEEK 1 – TUESDAY 5TH
– HAUNTED DUCK- 9 30 PM

We will be joined on the stage with Haunted Duck. If you don’t know who this is it is Perrin Moss, Simon Mavin and Paul Benders (All Members of Hiatus Kiayote) playing super awsome beats and Intergalactic rhythms that will melt your ear pussys! Expect neck breaking beats and grooves with his band bound to leave you jaw dropped all night!

WEEK 2 – TUESDAY 12TH

Laying down some Phat beats before Kooyeh hits the stage, come get down to one of Melbournes top producers dropping his mind boggaling beat to elevate you to a new level of conciousness! come get down!

WEEK 3 – TUESDAY 19TH
-UP UP AWAY- 9PM

Formed out of Box Hill Institute, 6-piece Soul/Funk outfit Up Up Away play music to get you closer to the ground. They like soul, funk, blues and a little something in-between that’s their own secret ingredient. They know you want to get nasty, and they’re happy to provide the soundtrack while you do.

-DEMIAN- 10 PM

We only have a few words for this band, Badass, polyrhythmic, jazzy FEAT:two drum kits! tasty guitar effects, trippy sax, wild vibes, contrasting emotions and space. These guys will send your brain into a realm in which you can’t fathom. deffinatly excited about joining these cats in a night of sweet sweet musaaaaaic

WEEK 4 – TUESDAY 26TH

– ECHO DRAMA – 9 30 PM

Formed in late 2011, Melbourne 8-piece Echo Drama are rapidly making their presence in the Australian reggae community felt with their unique fusion of Jamaican roots music and contemporary urban sounds. Fronted by the head-turning voice of Zimbabwean singer Thando Sikwila and the flawless flows of Alex “Sinks” Sinclair, Echo Drama create as sound that is at once steeped in the traditions of dub and reggae but also unafraid to draw on modern manifestations such as ragga, hip-hop, dancehall, d’n’b and dubstep. Big grooves, big tunes and big sounds, expect infectious dubscapes that flow from head to toe and righteous reggae rhythms that fuel the spirit with straight fire!
