REGGAE CRUISE HISTORY
One year has passed by and so much has happened!
It all started when the Event Manager Diego Moreno and a group of friends from Rasta Unity band got together with a simple idea of a dream event that would truly engage and support the much loved Reggae Community in Melbourne.
Once they started it off, the LOVE for PEACE, UNITY and REGGAE MUSIC took over, and since then a wave of amazing people have given their energy and love, to make it happen, improve it and make it better each time.
The Reggae Cruise had its 1st edition on the 7th of March 2015 with our brothers and sisters from Rasta Unity and T-RHYTHM and the amazing support of DJ Zare Demus. The event was a collective dream coming true and it was SOLD OUT!
The 2nd edition was a bit of a mystery, as winter, water and boats don’t usually mix together, however the LOVE for REGGAE shone bright and we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. Thanks to Centre & The South, Tee & The Refugees, Sista Zai Zanda, DJ Zare Demus and the huge support from our official after party More Fire at Deep 11 by Jesse Hype, the event was SOLD OUT one month in advance. Once again the vibes were unreal.
The 3rd edition of the event and the last one for 2015, took place on a Sunday and featured top acts Kooyeh, Ras Jahknow Band, Juliana Tenucci (BRA), Jesse Hype and the much loved DJ Zare Demus again. It was hot, sunny and simply amazing! Definitely the most multicultural event we have had so far, with a huge mixture of cultures, and people from all ages and backgrounds.

PHILLY
Philly – the young MC from Mildura, is quickly becoming one of the country’s hottest new hip hop acts. He is the winner of the 2015 National Indigenous Music Awards ‘New Talent of the Year’ category, he performed a breathtaking rendition of Bob Marley’s Three Little Bird for triple j’s Like a Version, and he released his first E.P – Dreamchaser. He recently also signed with Briggs’ new all Indigenous record label – Bad Apples Music. This young MC is determined to continue to use his voice to make change and inspire young people.
DJ ZARE DEMUS
An international dj and hype man with 15 years in the entertainment business.Truly a talented performer, you wont find Zare Demus being a cliched DJ with his head down, however he will be either blazing on the microphone or dropping a dance move while taking his patrons on a musical journey.
Zare Demus who was born in Jamaica, started thrilling patrons from the age of 16 when it was cool to buy vinyl and play them on turntables. Having gone through the fire that is Jamaican marathon dancehall sessions, easily reaching 10 hours per set, this gruelling intro to the world of entertainment, in reality, was the best launching pad for this DJ. Zare Demus cut his teeth on the constant demand to entertain and change vibes at any given moment. This is a skill many DJs will never learn, however, Zare Demus has turned it into an art form. Zare Demus’ unique DJ style enables him to play across all genres bringing the same level of energy, professionalism and showmanship to all performances.
RICHIE 1250
