THE IMPRINTS
The Imprints are an Australian duo creating dreamy dance music consisting of Willow Stahlut and Linden Lester. Armed with a violin, synth and various FX pedals, Willow creates deep sub bass lines and weaves a melodic tapestry beautifully complemented by Linden’s visceral energetic approach to the drums.
After recently returning to Melbourne from their latest international tour, The Imprints are back in
the studio working from fresh inspiration formed on their travels. Their latest single Kispiox was named after the place they wrote it in Northern British Columbia, Canada. They spent a few days in a cabin in the wilderness after performing at Kispiox Valley Music Festival and were inspired to write some new music. Their upcoming album will be released in time for their next Canadian tour in August 2017.
DUB ZOO
DUB ZOO takes you on a sonic journey into a swirling vortex of
psychedelic soundscapes and organic electronica all driven by the
churning engine room of a live dance floor-shaking rhythm
section. Heavily inspired by the work of pioneers such as King
Tubby and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, DUB ZOO pushes the boundaries
of the genre while also paying tribute to the classic ‘studio one’
style grooves. On top of the live drum & bass rhythm section the
dynamic set features an array of live instrumentation including
saxophones, flute, keys, kalimba as well as electronic samples,
theremin, panoramic delays and psychedelic effects.
Laying down the foundations is Leon Tussie on drums and
samples, Brad Wenham on bass guitar and Paddy Kiernan on
skank guitar and dubs. Multi instrumentalist extraordinaire Lee
Hardisty weaves soaring melodic improvisations while the
ethereal Lizzie O’Keefe delivers other-worldly operatic
vocalisations. The result is a transcendental exploration into the
uninhibited realm of the deep pocket grind.
DOSED
Dosed are a trio from the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. They started jamming together from an early age before making the easy and somewhat logical progression into the 3-piece they are today. Since their formation, they have been steadily gaining momentum and making noise on the Sunshine Coast music scene. These boys have a colourful mix of personalities that creates a contagious high-energy stage presence that certainly makes it hard for the innocent spectator to shy away. Specialising in getting both the young and old punters up for a dance, their upcoming EP lays down some funky fresh tunes that lets you put those good vibes on repeat.
