As part of the Darebin Music Feast, there’s a Sunday full of Melbourne’s top Reggae bands to be enjoyed. Headlining are local legends Centre & The South, who are joined by up-and-coming counterparts King River Rising and Beautiful Moana. It’s the perfect chance to get you’re groove on to some of the best in town.
From humble beginnings launching as a roots duo in 2009 Melbourne’s Centre & The South have evolved to become a roots reggae powerhouse incorporating elements of funk, soul and groove.
Centre & The South released their debut album ‘Yadah’ in early 2016 and to celebrate the band toured Australia’s east coast. ‘Yadah’ received critical acclaim across online outlets The Music, Happy Blog and Tonedeaf to name a few. The release also scored airplay across over 150 stations country wide including youth broadcaster Triple J and charting across the national AMRAP radio charts.

Hot out of the studio, King River Rising are set to be as tight and seasoned than ever, with the release of their latest EP ‘Lucid’.
This five piece groove group are pushing the boundaries of ‘Rocker’s Reggae’ while paying homage to the genre’s predecessors. By skilfully blending deep grooves with harmonies and melodies, King River Rising are all accomplished musicians in their own right and together they project a tight knit band that exude passion.

Lead by Tongan-born Reuben “BennyVee” Vatikani, Beautiful Moana serve up an infectious blend of reggae, R&B, pop and soul. Beautiful Moana have been writing collaboratively with a goal to create a sound that blends the cultural influences of the group. Sporting an authentic 9-piece line up, the band’s energy is sure to spread a healthy dose of positive vibes.
