True Jamaican Dancehall is proud to announce, as part of its 2016 dance festival, the 2nd Annual AUSTRALIAN DANCEHALL QUEEN AND KING DANCE COMPETITION, in association with the International Dancehall Queen Competition and Jamaica’s premiere dance company DanceJA.

Last year’s competition in Melbourne set a high bench mark, with Australia’s dancehall talent on show as dancers from around the country battled it out for the most sought after title in the world of Dancehall that of the Queen & King.

The competition was fierce, with the number one spots taken out by Alexx Downunder from Perth (OZ DHK), and Twinkle T (OZ DHQ) aka Tina Demelo from Melbourne. As part of her prize Twinkle T then went on to compete for Australia in the INTERNATIONAL DANCEHALL QUEEN competition in Montego Bay Jamaica and placed in the top 10 in the WORLD!!!

So now it’s time to announce the 2016 Australian DHQK competition and invite dancers from around the country to start training and prepare themselves for what will be an epic night of Dancehall with Australias best dancers showcasing their prowess on the stage, proving to the masses that they deserve to be the AUSTRALIAN 2016 QUEEN or KING and win not only the title but the chance to fly to Jamaica to be part of the TJD culture tour 2016 and join the world stage!

So the question is… WILL IT BE YOU!!???

The Competition will take place on Friday 19th February at the Royal Melbourne Hotel, 628 Bourke Street, Melbourne CBD.
