Caribbean Sydney Presents…
The official state qualifier for the 2018 Australian Dancehall King & Queen competition. Sydney’s biggest night of Dancehall coming this October long weekend; A night of dance competitions, club dancing & Jamaican dancehall music.
Out of the dancehalls of Jamaica and across to the shores of Australia; the time has come once more for the best dancehall dancers in NSW to showcase their skills and compete for the title of “NSW Dancehall Queen or King”.
DJs and entertainment
Supported by the best dancehall DJs and selectas across the state, and showcases from some of NSW’s best dance crews, this night will be packed with pure Jamaican dancehall vibez.

Competition
Dancers will be competing for the opportunity to represent NSW in the National finals in Melbourne and chance to win a further $1000.00 towards flights to Jamaica.

8– 9pm: Competition Preliminary Round:
9– 10pm: DJs
10-10.30pm: Competition – Final Round

Competition Details for competitors
Two competition categories:
Dancehall King – Males
Dancehall Queen – Females.
To Register:
Email caribbeansydney@gmail.com or info@caribbeansydney.com.au for a registration form.
Complete the registration form + submit a 15-30sec video of yourself dancing.
Max of 10 competitors will proceed per category.
Rounds:
1 x elimination round. 90 seconds of choreography.
Top 4 progress to final round.
Final round. 90 seconds of choreography.
Top 3 prizes awarded.
This competition will permit all styles and eras of Jamaican dancehall.
Prizes:
The winner of each category will be provided with a trophy, and $200 to contribute towards flights to the finals in Melbourne. Follow True Jamaican Dancehall tour for details on the Melbourne finals.
Trophies awarded to runners up.

FAQs
Is this a sit down competition to watch or is it a club night? Will we get a chance to dance?
The event will take place in a licensed club setting with ample opportunities to dance. There will be 1.5 hours of dance competition in total with the remainder of the night allocated to DJ’s and dancing.
Can I choose to compete on the night?
The competition requires competitors to pre-register and prepare their routines .
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
18 years
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
PUBLIC TRANSPORT / By Train:
The Mediterranean is only a five minute walk from Museum Station and is a 10-15 minute walk from both Central and Town Hall Stations.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT / By Bus:
Depending on the direction you are arriving from, many buses run down Oxford and adjacent streets. For more information or to plan your journey, visit the NSW Transport info website.
PARKING
Street parking on and around Oxford Street is available but limited. The closest parking stations are approximately a 10 minutes walk from the venue. Wilson Parking is on the corner of Goulburn and Elizabeth Streets and there is a Secure Parking Station on Riley Street.
