After a year of non stop touring and festival performances, urban roots-reggae act The Strides return to one of their favourite Sydney venues – Brass Monkey – for a night of original and “hard groov’n” Reggae as they share the stage with Declan Kelly.
The Strides recent album ‘Reclamation’ has seen them carve out new audiences around the country with their 2011 ‘Reclamation’ National Tour, as well wide acclaim and exposure on the European Roots music scene with a sining to label Record Kicks. This night will bring their characteristic reggae-afrobeat sound of powerfully melodic horns, driving bass lines and the authentic vocal stylings of Barbados’ Reggae Master Ras Roni and Fijian MC Lil G-zeus.

Declan Kelly:
Declan Kelly is an intuitive music maker who sings, plays drums and composes delicate songs that show influence in is new Album “Adrift” with Polynesian melodies, Irish Folk and the traditions of Reggae and also the bitter sweet strains of Africian American soul. Winner of the Blues and Roots Act at the 2008 Music Oz Awards, Declan’s New album Adrift -a pure offering in the roots reggae genre – just released by Vitamin Records April 6, 2009.
An accomplished musician, well respected by his peers, Kelly has built a performance reputation as a groove drummer,
music maker, recording artist and vocalist. Declan Kelly has played drums and toured with the following artists – across Australia and Internationally, some of the musicians include Michael Franti & Spearhead, Axel Whitehead, Guy Sebastian, Katie Noonan and the Captains, Alex Lloyd, Afro moses, Eugene ‘hideawy’ Bridges, Nessa Morgan, Jon stevens,
