The Strides + KingFisha @ Heritage Hotel Friday 8 June!
After a year of non stop touring and festival performances, urban roots-reggae act The Strides return to their hometown for a double bill and launch of a new album by Brisbane’s six-piece Reggae act Kingfisha. Do not miss this rare opportunity to catch two of Australia’s most original and “hard groov’n” Reggae bands as they share the stage for the first time on Fri 8 June at The Heritage Hotel in Bulli.
The Strides recent album ‘Reclamation’ has seen them carve out new audiences around the country with their 2011 ‘Reclamation’ National Tour, as well wide acclaim and exposure on the European Roots music scene with a sining to label Record Kicks. This night will bring their characteristic reggae-afrobeat sound of powerfully melodic horns, driving bass lines and the authentic vocal stylings of Barbados’ Reggae Master Ras Roni and Fijian MC Lil G-zeus.
Brisbane six piece Reggae band Kingfisha have been making a huge impact on the Australian Roots Reggae scene, and earned some cred by winning best Roots act in the 2010 Triple J unearthed competition. The band has toured extensively on the East-Coast and New Zealand, as well as performing at some of the country’s best festivals including Byron Bay Blues Fest, Reggaetown and Woodford Folk Festival. Kingfisha will be launching their debut album, a mix of Jamaican inspired rhythms and dub sounds.
