‘Ama’
Dance Style: ‘Afro Dancehall’ – (Jamaican dance style mixed with the afro dance influences “the Caribbean meets the rhythms of Africa”)
Hello Sydney! My official name is Amaryllis but everyone call me Ama. I’m French and grew up in the region of Paris, where the afro caribbean culture is very prominent.
I can’t remember when I started to dance honestly, but let’s just say it part of my nature… I am litterally dancing all the time. At work, in the street, when I’m waiting for the bus, even when I buy groceries lol … Just need good music and I go crazy 😛
I love learning new things, new tricks and then mixing styles. So my influences are wide. It goes from Hiphop newstyle, Locking to Kizomba, Creole Zouk/Kompas, Samba or Cuban salsa, I even tried Tango, Belly dance, Afro House and I also dable with Pole dance. Every dance has something special but the one I feel most comfortable with and free to express myself with is Dancehall.
I started teaching Zouk, Afro beats and Dancehall just a year ago through workshops and have got several dance projects ongoing. you can visit my facebook page and hit like 🙂 https://www.facebook.com/amaafrodancelover/?fref=ts
