Immerse yourself in dancehall from Friday 12 – Sunday 14th Feb 2016. Learn authentic dancehall steps from pioneers of the style, meet new friends and share your passion for dancehall and Jamaican music and culture.
The 2016 True Jamaican Dancehall camp will feature 2 workshop/party spaces, full catering and a selection of accommodation options including shared and private cabins, powered camping site, or full day passes for those staying off site.
Dance all day with workshops covering all aspects of dancehall from Old Skool to Dancehall Evolution and Queen Styles, then party on at night with the I LOVE DANCEHALL sound system.
Teachers:
– Jamaican dance pioneers teaching this year are super-woman Latonya Style, and Jamaica’s number one export and lead actor in up-coming blockbuster ‘King of the Dancehall’, Killa Bean from Supreme Blazers Crew.
– Afro-Dancehall goddess Stacy Letrice is bringing her fusion of Dancehall and traditional west African dance all the way from Chicago USA.
– Alexx Downunder – Australia’s Dancehall King will be laying down the Afrobeat and Dancehall moves.
– Melbourne girls Burncity Queenz, bringing you Dancehall Queen styles from their recent trip to Jamaica where Kitty Cat and Twinkle T (Australia’s Dancehall Queen) placed top 10 in the 2015 International Dancehall Queen Competition.
Sokil arts and eco camp is located on the Great Ocean Rd – a 90 minute drive from Melbourne.
