Perth, Sydney and Brisbane are set to ignite with a celebration of good vibes and culture when a new reggae festival hits these cities this summer.

Jammin Festival 2023 is an inaugural music event that will bring some of the biggest names in reggae music together in February 2023 as part of a line-up that will speak to the generations.

The Perth festival will be held on February 3, Sydney on February 4 and Brisbane on February 5.

From the iconic sounds of The Original Wailers, whose founder performed with the legendary Bob Marley in the 70s, to Sean Kingston whose hits including ‘Beautiful Girls’, ‘Eenie Meenie’ and ‘Take You There’ became some of the biggest tracks of the early 2000s – and everything in between, Jammin Festival offers music for every reggae lover.Also on the line-up are Hawaii’s Polynesian reggae stars Kolohe Kai, Fiji, Rebel Souljahz and Maoli, New Zealand favourites House of Shem, Sons of Zion and Tomorrow People as well as the legendary UK roots reggae band Steel Pulse. Jammin has a little flavour to cater to all kinds of reggae tastes.

Event partner Rawiri Nelson says Jammin Festival will be a celebration for the people, with nothing but positive vibes just in time for the birthday of reggae icon Bob Marley on February 6, which is also Waitangi Day for Kiwis across the ditch

“Reggae music is in our roots. Aotearoa has lived and breathed reggae culture from garage parties to major events. We know there’s a massive number of Kiwis, Māori and Polynesians who reside in Australia, and they’re going to feel at home at this festival. In the words of Bob Marley, reggae ‘has a feel’ and Jammin Festival is going to be a party for anyone who feels the vibe because although the music is reggae, the feeling is universal,” Nelson says.

After a tough few years impacted by Covid-19, promoter Matthew Spratt says people are more than ready for live international acts and the return of the entertainment industry, providing a much-needed boost to tourism and the economy.
