After an epic run at The Mercat spanning over 15 years, Australia’s longest running reggae dancehall night is moving on. Starting on March 11, New Guernica will be home to Chant Down’s monthly More Fire session, a dance that has inspired similar nights around the country, and long been a cornerstone of Melbourne’s reggae scene.
Expect the usual range of Jamaican music, from the deep roots of the 70s, to the foundation sounds of the early 80s, through to the latest and greatest new reggae and dancehall.
Residents Jesse I and Ras Crucial will be joined by guest selectors Zare Demus (Australia Reggae Radio), Rick Howe (PBS FM), and Lady Banton (The Operatives) – plus special guest Slicker 1 blazing up the microphone.
More Fire #192 takes place on Saturday 11th March at New Guernica (322 Little Collins St, Melbourne). Doors open at 10pm, with a cover of $12 or $10 concession and PBS members.
