RASTA UNITY has established itself as one of the most iconic Reggae Roots Bands in Australia by its conscious messages of peace and love united by the Brazilian, Chilean, Ethiopian and Australian influences.
The 7 piece multicultural Reggae and Roots Band is lead by the beautiful female vocals of Sistah Candice and Adriana, with the Brazilian grooves on the bass and keyboards by Eli and Riccky, the dynamic Ethiopian drums of Zela, Eddie Von Guzman on the lead guitar and the Chilean Oscar with his breathtaking saxophone.
Inspired from the Jamaican forefathers and foremothers of Reggae music like Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Toots, I-Threes, Third World, The Wailing Souls, Steel Pulse, The Gladiators, Israel Vibration and many more. The band was founded in Melbourne, Australia during the year of 2009 when Sistah Candice (Candice Feuerring) met and lived with the recently arrived Brazilians, JahWise (Eli El Ossais) and BrotherMan (Ricardo Furegato). During this time, Reggae Music was their main tool of communication and this was how both of the southern and tropical cultures of Brazil, Chile, Ethiopia and Australia collided so strongly.
In 2014, they recorded their independent debut album GLOBAL WARNING produced by Lotek (UK) -Clockwise Studio. Now they are currently working on their full debut album called “Jah Works” set for release in 2016.
They have toured around Brazil and Australia at major festivals and venues such as Sunday The Age City2Sea Run, The Reggae Cruise Melbourne, CarniRoots Reggae Festival, Brimbank Festival, Bob Marley B’day Bash – The Corner Hotel and many more.
Rasta Unity was blessed to collaborate with great musicians such as Mauricio Bug Monkei (Leoes de Israel), Family Man (The Wailers), David Morrison (The Abyssinians) and many more.
As always focused on empowerment and unity of the community, Rasta Unity has been a key player in making the most iconic ongoing Reggae Event in Australia with over 1200 guests per year. The successful Reggae Cruise gives opportunity to many emerging talents of victoria and works toward uniting the industry.
